Statistical Genetics and Stochastic Models of Evolution

We analyse probabilistic models for evolutionary processes and ecological interactions. Based on such explicit models we develop computational methods for statistical data analyses in population genetics and evolutionary genomics.

Research Projects

Within the DFG Priority Program GEvol – Genomic Basis of Evolutionary Innovations we are involved in two exciting collaboration projects in which we model and analyse the evolution of transcriptional variability and its role in adaptation and evolutionary innovation and gene regulatory mechanisms underlying the expression of social behaviour in two beetle clades. In other projects we model eco-evolutionary dynamics of hybrid zones and develop stochastic models, simulation tools and statistical methods for the analysis of methylation data .
